CARAMBOLAGE-S/T, LP, 1980, GERMANY
Another rare as hen's teeth score from the Stapleton archive, this is fairly stunning female art punk action that was incongruously issued on hippy polit-rockers Ton Steine Scherben's David Volksmund Editions imprint. Expect to find elements of X-Ray Spex like anarchic juvenile glee running headlong into the sort of insouciant femme-voxed and synth armed art rock aggression that fellow NDW merchants Originalton specialized in.

I loved this album; I can barely understand German (or French for that matter), but ain't no thang. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteif this record is anywhere near as good as the album art and write-up should be a treat - hope there's not too much x ray spex and more raincoats or pylon going on - anyhow for a bit of fun compare and contrast the front cover to the malfunkshun album return to olympus - many thanks for posting looking forward to it
ReplyDeleteI tried downloading this, but for some strange reason the file cannot be burnt as a CD unless it's a bmp or mp3 file. Any suggestions as to how this can be downloaded and made into a disc?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteChristopher,
Have you unzipped the file? The mp3s are inside the download file. You can use winrar or 7-zip software to do that if you're unfamiliar.
scott
good record!
ReplyDeleteI've spent the past week going through your blog. Wow. It's really impressive. There have been some real gems here and for that I thank you. You clearly have a diverse range of tastes and a wide knowledge of music. Great stuff! Okay, and now the inevitable request... Is there any chance of a reup on The Outsiders? Anyway it goes, just wanted to say thanks for all this.
ReplyDeletethey're better looking than x-ray spex I think you'll agree.
ReplyDeleteJust got finished listening to this for the umpteenth time since I dl'ed it & just wanted to say...Thank You!!! This is some of the best musick I've listened to in a long time. Oh Johhny, oh Roxan.
ReplyDeleteI like the last three track A LOT.
ReplyDeleteFinally got it downloaded. Fantastic record, sort of like a cross between early-seventies German agitprop rock and early-eighties female-oriented new wave. A classic I never expected to hear in quite a long time!
ReplyDeletehello, do you happen to have "Demo Moe - Demolish NYC" from 1988 in Maldoror Records? thank you.
ReplyDeleteMutant-Sounds is always incredible!
ReplyDeleteI love too much this record...
Long life to your blog!!!
Leandro - Brasil
Very good album. But the quality of the rip is shit.
ReplyDeleteanonymous-The quality of the rip is identical to all the others that I've done for Mutant Sounds (all transfered on the same equipment and all at a bit rate of 256). Cock your head to the right a bit or dislodge some of the wax in your ears and maybe it'll register than it's the production values that are what's making this sound murky.
ReplyDeleteYeah, some of us like DIY production values. If you want Lady Gaga, go to another blog.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous DIY and bad quality aren't synonyms.
ReplyDelete@vdoandsound I had my opinion about this rip and i voiced it. I prefer higher quality rips in lossless formats. Especially if it's vinyl rip which deserves at least 96Hz@24bit. I suggest you make some mirrors with quality versions of rips especially if you have unlimited bandwidth.
Truly a pink gem /way before Jem! Danke schön.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a rip of Eilzustellung-Exprès, the second Carambolage record? I've only heard one track, Vollgeturnt, off a compilation, and it's pretty good.
ReplyDeleteUpon a brief listen my first impression is Dog Faced Herman's meets Stereo Total. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThese girlies look sooo cute, I just had to download it!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great band. Please post Eilzustellung-expres and Bon voyage, also by them. Thanks a lot for....all this music.
ReplyDeleteAlas, both links are dead :(
ReplyDeleteanyone have another link? I am dying to hear this!

ReplyDeleteCruising through this at work. Had to pause and rep. This is pretty excellent; these girls are more than punk spit. It feels close to No Wave with some of the histrionics and traditional music goring that I find in the wonkiest of NDW releases.
