Neue Deutsche Welle genius Andy Giorbino's proactively garish touch seems possessed of the same aberrant Residential chromosome that makes Picky Picnic's razor cut smurfiness such an riveting proposition . The creeping pernicious effects of the Ralph Records roster would continue to hold whole segments of the NDW underground in thrall to unbridled wackiness, but Giorbino's foregrounded gratuitousness gives his work a special potency all it's own. Indivisible in their inspired idiocy, both of these early Giorbino documents are musically of a piece and both demented masterpieces.
