Here is the first LP from Belguim band Recreation. The self titled from 1970. The prog archives calls it keyboard led instrumental prog somewhere between Canterbury and symphonic prog with JP Falaise as a superb leader. Who can argue with that?
The debut by this Belgian trio is a kick – somewhere between the avant space psych of Group 1850, the rigid metronomics of Egg and exploito organ-led covers of classic psych tracks. Great fuzz bass and go-go organ sounds throughout.
Second Siloah`s album "Sukram Gurk" seems had been inspired by this record (IMHO).
2nd LP coming very soon!
get this one here
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love this blog.
Recreation very nice band, especially 2nd album.

Sorry to say, but this upload isn't the first Recreation album at all; it's the second one, but with the titles of the first and the second one mixed... hey, you know those song titles of tracks 4, 5 and 6, don't you... it are covers from well known '60s hits... these are not here, i'm afraid...
ReplyDeleteSome more info about this upload: there is no self titled Recreation album; there are two albums:
ReplyDeletethe first is called "Don't Open" (Triangle label, serial no. BE 920219). It has six tracks: Burning Chapel/Running For Life/Sexual Lover/Summer In The City/California Dreamin/Reach out, I'll be there.
The Second album is called "Music Or Not Music" (Barclay label, serial no. 920.356.T). That one has 15 tracks. A perfect version was upped at one of the other prog blogs recently
don't open and recreation lps are just the same .That's what i found out after research...
ReplyDeletedear mutantsounds, it may be that a later pressing of the "Don't Open" album was called "Recreation", but the original title was "Don't Open" and had another cover. The original cover may be seen here:

As said, the album that was upped here on your blog is the second one, called "Music or not Music", but with wrong titles of the tracks.
By the way, thanks for all the marvellous albums you and your team want to share with us. I'm addicted to your blog ;-)
P.S. mutantsounds, would it be an idea if you guys would specify "our own rip" or "not our own rip" with every album?
ReplyDeleteregards and a big thanks to you
should I do you a proper vinyl rip of their first album, mutantsounds? This is indeed their second album...
ReplyDeleteLex

ReplyDeletehi, i landed here looking for the sicond siloah album, the
ReplyDeleteSUKRAM GURK one....
