Here is some info on Arcane V, from one of my NWW List posts on WFMU's Beware of the Blog:
Arcane V - Marron Dingue - French band released on Exit in 1979. Usually cited as a progressive rock album, but there's nothing "rock" about it to my ears; more of a free jazz small combo with dominant woodwinds and a strong klezmer element on several tracks. It's likely that ESP-DISK jazz was a major influence.

Keep up the good work! -Wm.
Please repost this file. The track 7 "suivi de Perinitza" do not exist. Thnak's for all!
ReplyDeleteMauro
Definitely some ESP references going on- the sax player occasionally starts playing the first few notes of the head from Ayler's "Ghosts."
ReplyDeleteThe albums starts out very free-jazzy, but more and more instruments keep showing up... and then that klezmer freakout comes out of nowhere!
Thanks for this!
(and track 7 was included in my download)
