  1. Well, here we go again : I know I must be grateful for all your kindness in giving us so many wonderful records... This is not a complain but merely a wish : please be sure that the files are complete - if not, leave a warning. There are two tracks missing from this record (tracks 2 & 14). I'm not asking the two missing files ... but it's a bit annoying when you think you are going to listen to something you were so eager to listen & find out something's missing... So, please tell the potential downloaders, if it's possible, if the records are complete or not . Thank you very much.

  2. Well Mr. Joe Seth...i don't really know if you are the same anonymous guy that comoplains about anything .It is very disturbing and really beats my nerves after these many hours of work here to have someone complaining all the time...very bad.I'm really getting very anxious with this kind of behaviour...The 2 files missing were in that bad condition that i preffered not to post them at all.
And that"here we go again " ?i have 690 posts in 2 months time and only less than 5% of the posts had problems...and this makes you say :here we go again ?I cannot understand you...it seems that you and some other guys are cruising through blogs just to find mistakes and keep complaining....besides this is not a commercial zone...be thankfull for what you get and when commenting be more kind maybe....if you had paid for what you get you would have any reason to complain, but now you don't...anyway,possibly i got to nervous and said much things that i shouldn't hve said...sorry bout that
    no bad feelings though
    all the best

  3. If someone looks through all the 690 posts you posted and the comments to each post, one thing is very clear : I am not some anonymous guy ( well I sign Joe Seph and that is as anonymous as Mutant Sounds or whatever ... )who complains about everything ... To finish this business, I will use your words : "anyway, possibly i got to nervous and said much things that i shouldn't hve said...". So please don't throw wild guesses about what I do or don't do ...I was just stating something without demanding nothing in exchange ... A fact is a fact ... And if you say "The 2 files missing were in that bad condition that i preffered not to post them at all.", it would be nice to say so in the post ...nothing more I asked... The fact is that we only see / hear the files after they are downloaded...
    Anyway, thanks for all ...

  4. Please don't be discouraged by complainers. Just log into your RS account and see how many downloads your files are getting. Lots and lots of people are VERY happy because of what you and Eric are doing. Don't be discouraged! Keep up the great work here!

    Thanks very much!

  5. re pop electronique: Hey mr Joe Seth, don't come here anymore if you have issues..... ungrateful sod.

  6. This is the first time I have left a comment, and I realize I am being a coward for sending this anonymously, but well, I just had to say something.

I am someone who has never had the money or musical knowledge to find the things you have posted on your site. When there are commercially availably HNAS reissues, I buy them. I have several Nurse with Wounds CDs, and over the years some of the NWW list items have been reissued, but basically I could only wonder about the bigger universe of wierdo, unpopular, and absolutely wonderful music, because I was sure I would never run across the music. Until your blog arrived.

I do not understand people who complain and complain about what you haven't provided to us. So let me, very belatedly, thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have provided us with: a truly endless, wonderful number of impossible to find musical objects that are never in a million years going to be reissued. Never.

And not only do you provide the music, which must take forever to rip, prepare & upload, but you provide photos of what these objects look like, and many times the objects are as important as the music. It places the music in the context of its production, a context usually lost in CD reissues. You describe what the work is, how if fits in with other works...

Again, I just can't thank you enough. I have read every word you have written in this blog, studied every photo and very, very much enjoyed the opportunity, the gift, you have given us all to share in this music.

I'm in my 50s, have been interested in this stuff for a couple of decades, but it was not until your blog arrived that I learned so much about so many odd and wonderful corners of the experimental music world.

Please of please keep it up. Even if we don't particularly deserve these gifts, lots of us appreciate it.

  7. Yes, it's unreal how picky and ungrateful people can be. Keep up the amazing work!!

  8. Wow !!! I'm not going to repeat what I've just said ... Maybe English is not the mother language of some of you ... maybe you understand wrongly what was said even if English is your mother language. Let the tape roll on ...fast forward ...not so fast, I'm a lazy sod ...

  9. It's not about our grip of the English language, but how obviously rude your sentiment was in any context.

  11. Joe Seph-flame wars (even flame those conducted in portuguese) are NOT going to be tolerated here. No one here wants it or needs it. It's your opinion that people who defend our work here and take issue with rude attitudes are "Intellectually diminished bootlickers"? Thats about as obnoxious as it gets. These kind of unwarranted outburst of hostility will quickly make you persona non grata here. Learn how to hold your tongue or leave.

    ReplyDelete
  12. to be fair, I don't think that his initial request was neither unreasonable or rude. Redundant, perhaps, considering the vast amount of albums that ARE complete on this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Joe Seph-I don't speak Portuguese and can only use translation tools which largely scramble your text. You'll have to post in English if you want me to understand you.

  14. vdoandsound : sorry about that ... I love music and I respect what you're doing and I am grateful for what you're doing. I'm 51 years old and for 25 years I did some radio shows, most of the time in the local university radio station ...and some people must have listened for the first time to Vas Deferens Organization through one of these radio shows.I'm not involved in any form of music business but music as a listener is important to me. I keep on finding music I like through blogs like this. But I found out that the best thing is to keep your mouth shut and not comment certain things unless you want to be treated as an "ungrateful sod" and things like that ... I don't see what's the problem in stating that a file is missing two tracks or something like that and I don't really agree with the idea that if something is given to you, you shouldn't "complain" and should be eternally grateful to the kind soul who gave you such a thing.I don't complain and I don't demand anything but I have the right to say if something is wrong or haven't I? Never mind, from now on I'll be mute ... thank you very much,

    Joe Seph

    ReplyDelete
  15. CCE : and what I said wasn't even a request to supply the missing tracks ...It was just an information. I never demanded or requested anything from any blogger ... I only asked if it was possible to let people know in advance about the condition of the files. About the redundant part, well maybe that record missing the tracks was a record I wanted very much and others complete weren't...That's very subjective ...

  17. Joe Seph-Sorry if I came off rather harshly, but my comments were solely about the contents of your initial post in Portuguese (the one with the "bootlickers" quote) and not at all in regards to the initial comment of yours about the incomplete album posting. I only took issue when things devolved down to the level of name calling, something that seems utterly ridiculous and contrary to the whole spirit of a forum like this that is all about spreading the love and sharing the wealth. Everyone ready to put this topic to bed now?

    ReplyDelete
  18. vdoandsound : that initial post in Portuguese was directed to some not to all people commenting here ... and if someone was called a "name" first, it was me ...but I already put this topic to bed. I am sorry if I said that but people should think twice before they say something about what they read here.
    Thanks again ...

  22. hi everybody! this blog continues to amaze and delight me, and THANK YOU to all the posters. i don't want to get in the middle or hurt anybody's feelings, but i have this idea i want to put forward.

mutantsounds is making available music that many of us would never otherwise be able to hear, and will probably never hear in another form. this blog is preserving music that otherwise would disappear, which is a VERY VALUABLE cultural service.

in many cases, people's understanding of what these records consist of, and what the musicians and artists created, will come only from the rips on this blog. so i too think it would be a nice thing if the text of the post would mention if some tracks are omitted. that way, we will understand that there may be more to the work of art than it is possible to present here. also, it may encourage some other lucky person with a copy of the record to post the missing or damaged tracks -- that way EVERYBODY will have the benefit of hearing the whole work.

it really is not a matter of an incomplete post being "annoying", as joe seph put it, but of understanding the musical work itself.

i see that this post ("pop electronique") has been revised to mention the missing songs. seeing that there were 22 comments, i was hoping that a commenter might have posted the missing tracks, but instead found an unfortunate dispute, which is what got me thinking along these lines.

perhaps it seems a bit pretentious to write about these records as "works of art", but i think that was in many cases what the creators were attempting, and in many cases they succeeded. again, THANK YOU to the creators of this blog for your generosity and efforts in making these works of art better known. you are doing the right thing to help preserve this music, and i am exceedingly grateful for the chance to hear it, even when it is not possible to post the entire work.

  24. Hi everyone,

For those who asked for it, the complete album can be found on Soulseek. I saw it at 192 Kbps and at 256 Kbps. It seems to be the LP version, for it has 14 tracks (I saw on Discogs that there is also a CD reissue with 15 tracks, but I didn't see it on Soulseek yet).

About the argument above, I don't feel Joe Seph has been ungrateful in his coment. I don't see any contradiction in being very happy that a great blog such as this gives us access to music we might otherwise never be exposed to and asking politely if Mutant Sounds could possibly warn us when an album is not complete.

If I know in advance that an album is missing 2 tracks, or I download it and don't have any reason to complain, or I try to find it somewhere else. Some bloggers also write the bitrate of the albums they post.

Mutant Sounds, your blog is absolutely great, but in my opinion it would be even better if you wrote these informations with every post. It's just a suggestion of course, it's your blog and you do what you want with it. I guess that's what Joe Seph expressed in his comment ("This is not a complain but merely a wish").

Thanks anyway for all this great music,
    Brain Damage

  25. Wish it was still here...I can live with missing tracks. Mutant- your blog is by far, the most amazing I've ever seen and heard. You forever put to rest the notion that 80's music "sucked"...I was just looking in all the wrong places.

Anyway, as the link is dead here is a 320 CD rip of the Dare-Dare reissue (including the two missing tracks!) and the quality is excellent...
