Hototogisu-Cuckoo Cloudland,LP,2001,USA

This was the 2nd release by the Hototogisu, and was touted as being the work of a mysterious Japanese group with ties to the Taj Mahal Travellers, only later did we find out that it was really Matt Bower of Total / Skullflower / Sunroof! / Vibracathedral Orchestral fame. Bower is currently working as the Hototogisu with Marcia Basset of the Double Leopards. The record comes in a plain white jacket, with a textured silk-screened red rice-paper cover. Very nice indeed, probably De Stijl’s best work.
Just 99 copies were made.
As requested!
After kindly destijl request i have to remove this link ,as there is a plan to reissue "cuckoo cloudland" on CD.

  3. I'm pretty sure this is from the pre-Marcia era of Hototogisu, when it was still just Matt Bower. largely it's just Sunroof! material under another name (with the intended japanese underground gimmick), for which I can't complain, the more Sunroof! there is the happier I am.

an obscure Matt Bower-related request I'd make is the Sky Blue Void album under Bower's Total moniker, on Freek records in 1994. I try not to judge things from their cover, but this one's is so brilliant I just have to know what's buried inside: http://www.discogs.com/release/613369

  5. I second the motion (insofar as there was a motion) for more Sunroof. Perhaps Temple Music Volumes 1 and 2?
I don't want to seem greedy or what have you, but more Vibracathedral would also be most welcome.

    Thanks again,

    E.
