Great psych/post punkish album from this Japanese legends. This is their only LP released through Org label in 1989 and reissued in 2001 by Alchemy label(could not figure out if this 2nd release is deleted or not,but it seems it is,if not let me know).Org is the originating company of Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Nagsia Ni Te, The Hallelujahs, Reiko Kudo and Love Beach, etc. Lo-key psychedelic-undercurrent rock/pop, with a unique slant. Idiot O'Clock is organ driven, with a sorta American Down There vibe, hard to describe or understand, really. (Alchemy label description).Members Ken-ichi Takayama, Naoki Zushi and Shinji have been simultaneously involved in the band in early 1980's.Although the period that the three shared in the band was short, they kept relationship to stimulate their creativity each other for quarter of a century.

oh my this is good.
ReplyDeletethen again, i find myself saying that a lot with this site... hah.
Thanks so much, I've been wanting to hear this for a long time.
ReplyDeleteAmazing, I can't believe this was posted! Actually, I think that this record was originally released on Alchemy, while the bonus tracks that accompany the CD (Last words and BOYS if I remember correctly, I might have them mixed up) were originally released as a 7" on Org.
ReplyDeleteEither way - it's great to see this on Mutant Sounds. A very good record indeed!
I hera the slower parts of 2nd & 3rd album Wire, the same late Velvets laid-back vibe that also enchanted bands like Galaxie 500 and Bedhead. Some parts also remind me of the Mirrors...and yet when considered as a whole this music is totally unique, and made even more so by the kind of REM-esque folk-rockish feel that would actually make a lesser band less interesting, but here only adds to the understated innovation found here. Great stuff!
ReplyDeletedo you have Naoki Zushi's 2nd album??
ReplyDeletei wanna listen it, but it's no longer made...
