This one is a real gem.Drahomira Song Orchestra is a project of Drahomira institut in Russia, that involves in art, cinema, music and other "criminal" activities(that's their own words). Started in early 80s they have a stock of about 30 albums, waiting to be released. This one was self released in the redicolously limited edition of 100 copies in 1986 and is as far as i know sold out. Dark ,sometimes too epic sounds from the Russian toundra ,electronic plinketyplonks ,ethnic elements, tapes, noises ,repetitive sounds, classical organs compositions, stretched vocals in French,Russian and English...Possibly the best thing i've heard in 2008 till now. Will appeal to fans of HNAS,LPD,Bourbonese Qualk,DDAA,etc.
visit their wonderfully designed website
Brilliant stuff.
ReplyDeleteA little correction though:
The Institut Drahomira as well as the Drahomira Song Orchestra is entirely composed of... a couple of French dudes.
The whole "background story" of their work is part of the mystification and beauty of the Institut.
I also doubt this album was made anytime before the actual release date.
This is a really beautiful band and project in general anyway and I advise everyone to get their hands on one of their albums!
Also, as usual, a huge thank you to the Mutantsounds contingent for all the great music they share everyday.
ReplyDeleteFantastic post Mutie. Reminds me of Brume sorta.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds very appealing. I'm sure the music will more than live up to your review. I don't take the time to say it enough, but thank you so much for this wonderful blog and all the music you share on it. Take care..
ReplyDeleteplease stop using rapidshare :(((
ReplyDeleteThis post looks great...very interested to find out when this was made (if the mystification / date fabrication can be unpicked)...must agree rapidshare is often disappointing...z-share and megaupload are more reliable and accessible...Mutant Sounds, however, like others have said is astonishingly good...one of the only things I ever look forward to reading online
ReplyDeleteFirst off I just want to say that I LOVE MUTANTSOUNDS!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was just wondering if anyone else had trouble unzipping track 12 off of this wonderful album... I've tried DL it 3 times off both links and it keeps telling me that track is corrupt. Any chance you could re-upload it? Thank you again.
ReplyDeleteThx a lot, never heard of them, almost industrial i'd say. Any chance u could get your hands on: Drahomira Song Orchestra - La Chambre De Styrene ?
ReplyDeletecheers and keep it going, love this blog ! !
Part 2 is corrupted! Can you pppplease re-upload?
ReplyDeleteThanx Bro For Sharing The Music...Hail From Indonesia.....!!
ReplyDeleteNice Music To Share.....
the drahomira song orchestra is actually a duo based in france. to my knowledge, they have this album (their newest one, very probably not recorded in 1986), a very limited 220 gram LP on flesh eating ants record (which barely sold, so its probably very hard to get), a cd called 'la chambre de styrene', as well as 10 super limited cdrs, which were also sold mainly through flesh eating ants records. these are likely also difficult to find. sadly their best works seem to be the hardest to find!
ReplyDeletei love this blog!
Thanks this is great! For those interested in some of their other albums I just found out today last.fm has some for free download:
