Andreas Thomopoulos-Born Out of the Tears of the Sun,LP,1971,UK/Greece

Great underground acid folk LP by Greek singer Andreas Thomopoulos, that lived in UK(possibly because of the Junta in Greece).Released in the legendary folk label Mushroom this is his 2nd LP,being the first the one called "Songs of the street" on the same label(i think it was 1st label's release). The melancholic Andreas voice accompanied with a vast of acoustic mostly organs creates a dreamy atmosphere with lyrics both in Greek and English. This record seems to have been vanished friom the face of earth!

  7. I used to have Songs of the Street but it was pinched with other stuff many years ago The first track on this reminds me of that record that has stayed in my memory Nice to hear him again There is a lovely Youtube of him as he is now called Na m'agapas with Giannis Koutras and he doing a very soulful impromptu duet He is a special very authentic person

  9. Andreas shared a flat with my brother, Neil Richmond and myself in Primrose Hill in the late 60's/early 70's, the flat rented from Randy Bernstein who had been convicted at the Rivonia trial with Nelson Mandela. After completing a course at the London Film School he decided to record his songs with Neil, who worked as a recording engineer at Abbey road. The album was one of Neil's first forays into producing. In about 1971/2 Andreas had a nervous breakdown and returned to Greece. He contacted Neil and myself in 1986 on a visit to London, which led to my family enjoying a holiday in his family's flat in Spetse.....

  10. Graham,

That is a neat story, I've been trying to track down your brother for some time. I'm a freelance writer and was hoping to set an interview with Neil to chat about for a Syd Barrett article I'm putting together. If he would like to chat abiut the Syd sessions he worked at EMI I can be reached at christopher (dot) moise (at) sprint.com.

    cheers!
    Chris

  11. Graham,

Re my comment above please note I changed email addresses. My new email is chrismoise01 at gmail.com. I would appreciate any opportunity to set up an interview, email or phone conference, with your brother Neil to discuss his recollections of working at Abbey Road in the late 1960's.

    Thank you,
    Chris Moise
