Much closer to free jazz than to progressive music, this ensemble from Rome is notable for the presence of well known film music composer Ennio Morricone(along with Roland Kayn,Franco Evangelisti,Egisto Macchi,Giancarlo Schiaffini and others). Their 1967 album was also issued in USA and Canada under the name Il Gruppo, while the 1970 album The feed-back is often mentioned as an italian avantgarde classic, being similar sometimes to some german cosmic music albums.Great impro LP!Possibly their rockier(!) one!
get it here
There only seems to be two tracks and the cover shots in this download - what happened to the rest of it?

ReplyDeleteLooks like it's a problem at my end - thanks for checking though...
ReplyDeleteanything morricone is manna to my day, thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, thanks a lot for this!
ReplyDelete@roger mexico: maybe u need to give a shorter name to the .rar archive (e.g. gruppo) and then try to open it again.
Thanx Dokimos - I tried that and it works!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Morricone-related post. I love The Feedback that you posted on here aawhile back. It reminds me of experimental krautrock with beats that are sure to be lifted by the latest hip-hop producers.

thanks so much for this. i have to admit i was a bit disappointed by the bitrate, but it sounds pretty damn good through my bose system. it's a real shame the gruppo's albums haven't been re-released. a couple of tracks from this album are available on a compilation (1967-1975); two of their mid-70s albums are out on cd (s/t & musica su schemi); & a collection of unreleased material is out there (azioni). the avant garde project posted a very very nice rip of the gruppo's 1969 improvisationen (sp?):
