Here are 2 great records of UKs punk poet Patrik Fitzgerald. While "Tonight" is a guitar driven anthem-like poetic punk record(reminding early Astronauts ) the "Gifts and Telegrams " LP is touching the edges of dark minimal synth wave. Both are great and among my fav records from the early 80s.

Well here is my hero, and you picked his two best albums. But I lost the first one, "Grubby Stories". Far less important but still -- Patrik. Any chance of posting that one?
ReplyDeleteThanks again! But in this particular case : the .rar doesn't open well.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact : I've never ever encountered problems with .zip, but often with .rar files...

Yeh! My best friend and I were obsessed with the Tonight Ep as teens. He bought it in D.C. in a cutout bin for a whopping 10 cents. Best purchase ever.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteFinally the long overdue tribute album to UK's first (and one of it's finest) punk poets is starting to take shape. 33 years of songwriting will be coverd, from Patrik's 1976 Small Wonder demo's to tracks from His upcoming album "Subliminal Alienation". We will be announcing a little over 30 contributors over the next few weeks. You might think that some of the bands are fairly unknown and slightly Norwegian (well If You're not from Norwegia they might be) fear not, the album will be a good one. Why the work of Patrik is virtually forgotten or unknown over there in Blighty is a humongous mystery to us here at Crispin Glover Records. Hopfully this album will help set the record straight. On the other hand - if it only leads to a few lost souls stop listening to "New Rave" - our goal is partially reached. The release date is set to March 6 - to coincide with the world premiere of Dom Shaw's PF documentary "All the Years of Trying" at the Kosmorama Film Festival in Trondheim, Norway.
ReplyDeleteYou'll find among others a great cover version of Tonight here :

Neither unknown or forgotten. Patrik Fitzgerald has a gig in my neck of the woods tomorrow night which I'll be going to. Perhaps Subliminal Alienation will be available there.
