A gobsmackingly great out of the blue master class in surrealist mesmerism courtesy of one Per Giobel, a heretofore unknown (well...to me anyway) Swedish experimentalist who both fills the A side with a jaw-dropping expanse of immersive and equilibrium addling electronics worthy of the kosmiche masters and lends his deft production gravitas to the handful of associates that occupy the flip of this compendium, all coincidentally occupying a similarly heaving and sighing slipstream of askew electronic acid wonderment mixed with Tietchens-esque smeary/bleary subdued menace.
Great mysterious album. Got it from a friend for free ages ago, as she figured I might enjoy it (which i did).
ReplyDeleteI think you got the country wrong though. The artists I have manage to track down are all Swedish, and it was recorded in the classic Studio Lane right here in Gothenburg, Sweden.
All in all well worth the download!
// Th
per giobel is actually a swedish experimental artist, well known for his work at Radium records were he produced and recorded some of the most interesting works in sweden in the late eighties
ReplyDeletea total-Ouch! Right you are. Thats my second major flub with these last five posts that I've put up and that I've been corrected on. Trying to get posts up too rapidly in too small a window of time with the latest round of albums that I put up. and the DK at the end of the address on the rear of the cover threw me off.
ReplyDeleteAll work and no play make Eric a very sloppy boy sometimes. It's now been corrected. Thanks for letting me know.
This is actually a record made by an artist owned gallery group called DK. The girls made one track each.
ReplyDeleteYou can find much more info about them and others around this time in the swedish art world in the catalouge to the recent exhibition "Tänd mörkret!" (Turn On The Light!")
Sorry; "Turn On The Darkness!" that should be!
ReplyDeletePer Giobel did the mixing etc but it is the group DK who should be credited for this record.
ReplyDeleteAnd DK was a artist collective/gallery run by: Amy Lindau, Inger Arvidsson, Katrin von Rettig and Lena Zachrisson.
You find the track "I forhallande till narvaro" on the CD included in the catalouge "Tand morkret" (Turn on the darkness)
