EARWACKS-DISTANCES, LP, 1981, USA

This lost piece of private press American prog eccentricity is operating on a very elevated level indeed, with a dizzying array of moves that you could loosely triangulate between the Zappa and Hampton Grease Band-damaged convolutions of the American left field proggers in Oho, the prog/glam-indebted new wave quirk of early Tin Huey and the real people art rock what-the-fuck-ness Gignoux's Broadway Boys. This is just fascinating stuff and begs to be rolled around on (and have it's orifices probed by) your collective tongues, as the mystery and depth here just keep exponentially escalating as this platter spins on.

  1. While discovering some nuggets in your archives like Total Issue, I've been listening for the 100th time to the s-t album by Fuchsia (England 1971) which I think certain Mutant Sounds followers would also love. I was going to suggest you post it, but it's also on progpossession. Thanks for everything!

  2. Message for mutantsounds: your wants list includes Chuck van Zyl - Callisto and any other tapes. I have Ganimede, Io and Europa. They are in mint condition, only ever played once (to make a copy). I'll be putting them up for sale on Discogs shortly. If you're interested email me at 'tangier at digitalcage.com'.

  3. Kinda sounds a bit like the Hamilton Face band which I guess is still within that Zappa realm. Nice one.

  4. Fella's... love that your still getting stuff up there but you really should try and use mediafire.com for your download links. I've been using it for my blog for over 3 years and very rarely have links go down. Its also much faster than megaupload or rapidshare. Multiple downloads as well... I'm not advertising for them... It just works much better!

  5. Hey there, I was just wondering if there would be any chance for a re-up of this Kimitaka Matsumae post?

In any case, thanks for your continued awesomeness!

  7. Thank you for your kind words. I especially like the tongues part.

We recently had a re-union concert and after 30 years it seems the music holds up pretty well.
