NORD-EGO TRIP, LP, 1984, JAPAN

Released in a miniscule edition of 100 copies, the second and final of our requested Nord albums is comprised, much like LSD, of two side-long workouts of layered dystopian pulsations. Ego Trip, while somewhat of a piece with it's sister album, hews rather closer to the air free MB aesthetic that was more latent on LSD. side A starts a mite tenuously but eventually settles into a pleasingly disorienting suctioning wooze. Side B begins rather annoyingly with someone playing Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody To Love" underneath the electronics for no compelling reason before settling into a very agreeable bit of extended synthetic claustrophobia.

  3. yes, many thanks for unearthing all of these gems. in terms of requests- i know the scene has become slightly more popular as of late, but am wondering if you might have some of the older Schimpfluch Gruppe material - early rudolph eb.er tapes, live bootlegs, etc. Rare japanese free-jazz / international musique concrete would also be appreciated

  4. Thanks millions!

Now that I've heard them, I'm glad I never shelled out ridiculous amounts of cash for them at Neds/JnR in Tokyo. I much prefer the Pinakotheca LP and the CDs.

These two do have their moments, though.

  6. Isaac-I'm planning on posting the first 4 or 5 Schimpfluch LP titles not too long from now...stay tuned...Free jazz and musique concrete-aligned titles will pop up sporadically in future posts, but those tropes aren't a primary fixation at this point for me...

Anonymous from Sweden, I got rid of the Nord LP on Pinakotheca...tried twice over 10 years with that one but it just doesn't quite work for me.

  7. is there any chance you can post the Nord cassette releases? I believe there was one on Vanilla and a collab with Merzbow... unless I'm mistaken?
Thanks, and keep up the great archeological work!

  10. anonymous-Yes....it is. Went to the bother of re-downloading it just to be sure that I didn't screw up the burn or upload. I didn't.

  11. This is Nord -- but I think the two albums you posted are switched. LSD is the one that opens side two with the Jefferson Airplane sample, not Ego Trip...
