Great arty, fractured San Francisco new wave outfit with, to these ears, more of a sonic akin to what was going down in L.A. at the time with groups like Suburban Lawns, Human Hands, 45 Grave and Null and Void.

Pink Section were on the excellent "Can You Hear Me? Music from the Deaf Club" live LP, and later evolved (devolved?) into the Inflatable Boy Clams. Fun, idiosyncratic stuff!
ReplyDeleteGreat! i've been looking for this forever. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou people (if you are indeed people) have some amazing stuff.
Thanx so much for your blog and especially for this post

Hey, my name is Tono Rondone and my band The Alter Boys (with the now renowned actor Richard Edson) played with Pink Section on Grant Street in San Francisco. Judy G. of Pink Section was my girlfriend and Fritz Fox of The Mutants was the lead singer in another one of my bands Frank Hymng. In fact, Jojo Planteen from the last iteration of The Alterboys was also in The Inflatable Boy Clams. You can check out my website www.piscesbooks.com and go to the Frank Hymng page to find out more about us, another '80's San Francisco Punk/Art Rock/New Wave band!
ReplyDeleteThere was also a 7" record of Pink Section, with a couple different songs from the 12". They were a phenomenal band, they deserve a bigger nostalgio-fan-base.
ReplyDeleteYes! Nice to see some appreciation of a sadly bypassed band. I've got both the 12" and the 7" (Tour of China/Shopping). Brilliant stuff. Been searching for ages for some info about Pink Section.
ReplyDeleteCould there be unreleased material somewhere?
i was in a band with Judy G's stepdaugter called Zomo checkem on myspace/zomozomo
ReplyDeleteAny news about this possible CD release of unreleased material? There are millions of fans waiting!
