Mutant Sounds awarded for 2007 Best Niche Music Blog and Re-Ups Requests

Dear friends
finally yesterday OUR blog was awarded as 2007 best Niche Music Blog. This was a landslide victory ,with Mutant Sounds getting about 77,5% of the votes.I want to thank you for your support all this time and assure you that the victory was yours not mine or Eric's or Spacefreak's.And afterall i think music is the only winner. It is good to see "quality" music blogs(which i think is our blog) to win such contests from very popular other blogs. I assure you that in 2008 we will continue the same way and much stronger.
A second matter is that the next 10 days i would have the time to re-up whatever possible from your requests. So please comment in THIS post only your requests for re-ups till Sunday 12/23.Be awared though that i cannot re-up stuff that complaints were recieved for.
Thank you once more
Jim Mutantsounds

  4. Hurray! Weirdness won over mediocrity! Congrats to all that make this blog so good, be it the team or their strange bunch of fans ;-)

Here a first request: the 2 Anima Sound releases, "Stürmischer Himmel" and "Musik für Alle" posted back in January and February respectively).

    Thanks in advance, Jim!

  7. Congratulations!

This isn't exactly a repost request, but I was wondering if any of you guys had any Proof of Utah to upload, or anything from the bands the Algy Krebbs Quartet or Signalmen, which had members of Proof of Utah. That would be amazing!

  8. Anima Sounds are both low-rates. Musik fur Alle is 160 and Sturmischer Himmel is 128.

  9. how about a re-up of Eugene Bowen's Bourgeois

  10. way to go! My favorite blog, by far.
How about reposting Dave Ball's In Strict Tempo

  11. Well done indeed! I think this is just about my favourite site on the internet - just when I thought I had exhausted all things musical, here I find literaly hundreds of artefacts I never knew existed - no thanks to the ever-narrowing physical media we have in this country (UK) - and which have led me off in lots of new directions.
Nice to see you have a mention in the writers' picks of the year in WIRE magazine too.

  12. Oh...That's great!

And if you asked, so Is could appreciate something from any AMT member...or something AMT...that's all, and thank you very much!
    Greetings from Hungary!

  13. hello,
YES R Pinhas please re-up him.For +12 months i have enjoying your blog. The french scene(s) is a dicovery for me thought i am (french). It changed my life. Really. I was in a "independent modern music" cul de sac for 3 years. This blog opened the windows. I'm listening music again!
I know i am out subject for this post but here are some requests:
    - VERMONSTER & many Twisted Village
    - LUC FERRARI, this genius
    - PROSPECTIVE serie on Phillips in the 70's
    - VIOLENT ONSEN GEISHA
And i miss the very long and very personnal commentary on each post you used to make. Especially on NDW music. Make it longer, i read it. Thanks.. Jérôme.

  18. Well done everyone, and thankyou for the music.

Requests? This might not involve a reupload... something seems to have gone wrong with the Kawabata Makoto early works 10 disc set. Rapidshare says the files are there, but never allows access to them.

Apart from that - more AMT (and offshoots), and more Boredoms!

Congratulations, once again - and, once again, thankyou.

  20. Mazal Tov! I thought I was pretty well versed in high weirdness, but you've shown me whole genres I never knew existed.

Been wishing I'd grabbed an early posting of Algebra Suicide's catalog ever since I heard about vocalist Lydia's passing. ANy chance for a repost?

  21. Congrats on your award! You folks deserve it. Thanks so much for all your contributions.

    A Request:
Do any of you have access to "The Naked Carmen?" It was released around 1970 - an electric rock/pop opera based on the opera Carmen. It mixed classical music with pop & rock and also some tape montage work. Also features the vocal talents of Melba Moore. It's an awesome piece of work and derserves to be remembered- and has never been released on CD.

  24. Congratulations indeed. You guys are certainly the best when it comes to turning us on to rare and interesting music. It's a dream come true for a long time collector that still had only managed to listen to a small portion of the wonderous world of music out there until now. keep up the good work.

  27. Congrats ... of special interest to me has been the discovery of so many UK, German and Dutch bands of the early 80s in a vaguely post-punk and minimal synth mode that were completely out of sight and out of reach to me at the time. Yours and one or two other blogs have shown it to be period of almost Nuggets-like depth in music that was not only largely unheard but is well worth hearing.

  28. Congratulations on the win, it's well deserved. After downloading some of the mavericks on your site over the past six months I was truly shocked to realise how conservative my taste in music had been getting and how inexhaustibly wonderful music is when freed from a corporate overlay.

I'd also like to agree with "Automating" about the French scene you're uncovering for me/us. I'm an Aussie, and ... I had no idea. Some truly inspired and beautiful weirdness. Is there more?

And like more than one person who've left comments I'd also like to see the Richard Pinhas LP re-upped.

  29. Congrats on what is my favorite music blog ever!

  30. Cheers! If you will have some spare time, please re-rip Pascal Comelade - Paralelo. Track No. 2 is wrong... (see comments).

  38. Congrats from the Narcoverse! No re-up wish, but do you have "Sentimientos" by Pascal Comelade (on DYS)? I almost doubt that this album exists, I think this is the only record I never saw on the huntig ground, not even in the blogosphere neither on GEMM, nor ebay, in fact not at all...

  41. Hi, congrats for the winning (although I think any decent mutant would refuse to join any club that would accept it). No re-ups request, but I'd like anything by Lydia Domancich.

    Thanks.
