THE JAUNTIES-S.T., 3x7" BOXSET, 1993, USA

Sometime Half Japanese member, leader of Megaphone label units The Dramatics & The Attitude Robots and collaborator with Tatsuya Yoshida, Eye Yamatsuka, Jac Berrocal and an unholy host of other fringe art damage mongers, The Jaunties was an early project of Jason Willett's in consort with a terminally hyperactive 15 freak named Benb Gallaher and it's frantically fucked and lo-fi spazz/skronk/splatter/wobble (imagine Faxedhead playing Flipper covers while wearing boxing gloves) ought to endear it to many within our ranks, particularly those that are hot and bothered over the contempo post-No Wave/free rock crowd.

  1. you got the line up wrong, it is JASON WILLETT, he is the head honcho of the Megaphone label and is one of the continuing flag-bearers of Baltimore's avant garde universe

  5. Stomachache Records put out a number of these 3x7" box sets for other artists too (a very cool packaging idea.) Do you have any of the others? Anyone have a list of how many they did? I know of two more besides this one.

  7. Hi. My name is Benb Gallaher, and The Jaunties was just the two of us. This was recorded entirely at Jason's house in Frederick, Maryland, in July of 1993. In that miserable town, Jason owned a record store (Megaphone Music) that was better than anything ever. Jason moved to Baltimore at the end of that year and began an extremely prolific period that I feel honored to have witnessed. And it's thrilling to see this record being shared.
