LIGHTDREAMS-ISLANDS IN SPACE, LP, 1981, CANADA
Brain soaking space rock magic with substantial acid folk underpinnings from these ace cosmonauts and contemporaries of Melodic Energy Commission; another Canuck crew who forgot to tone down the high ritual psychotropic magic because it was presumed passe elsewhere and whose playful approach to the idiom is mirrored here, alongside a healthy dose of other space cadets who walk the line between heat-warpingly blasted and blissfully serenading ala Dennis Weise, Woo, Steve Hillage and Ian Macfarlane/Violet Lightning.

I thought as there were no comments for the 1981 Canadian Lightdreams 'Islands In Space' album I better rectify this just in case you thought there was little demand for space related rock/electronica/prog/disco albums from the 70s & 80s.
Not the greatest album of it's kind but two of the tracks made me very happy I downloaded it. 'Voiceless Voice' skillfully blends astronaut dialogue with the kind of ambient washes that we would all be hearing in the chillout circa 1988/89 & 'Farewell Goodbyes' is a perfect example of pastoral psych backward masking loops and found sounds blended with an acoustic fragility Nick Drake would have been proud of...
....hats off to the poster and ripper for this one...
i hear a new aaaaaage
thx!
Super fine spaciness. Thanks.
Thanks for the Lightdreams album, never heard of it before! Very lovely, gorgeously psychedelic, indeed reminds me more than a little of Melodic Energy Commission though not as odd. A treasure!
best wishes
Chris
