AG GEIGE-RAABE, LP, 1991, GERMANY

The third and last official outing from the former DDR's foremost exponents of Residents-damaged fuckery, AG Geige, as mentioned before, were also the anarchic former home to the now extremely tasteful minimal electronica maven Frank Bretschneider. On Raabe, they've taken this whimsy mongering and retooled it with a sorta brashly punchy pop dynamism that tugs this closer to the work of Holger Hiller, La Loora and The Blech than to anything on the Ralph label specifically. Fun stuff that sometimes hits with great force, even though "Ich Bin Der Boy" keeps threatening to break out into George Benson's "On Broadway" at any moment.
