Catharsis-same(masq),LP,1971,France

Catharsis was a French art band who released albums during the 1970's. Their first album, "Masq" (1971), was a mixture of formless chanting, hypnotic melodies, prominent percussion, Arabic styles, and experimental songcraft. They would release 4 more albums, with the latter 3 exploring slightly different sounds.Like a cross between a gothic horror soundtrack and a spaghetti western, it has elements of Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother" and the finest Amon Duul II improvisations.

Thanks! Thanks!
Fantastic album - very teutonic atmosphere, Amon Duul-ish grooves - Wow!!!
Please, if you can, post another albums from this great band!

Okay, you've had some great stuff on here before but this is just in a class by itself. Fantastic! I can't believe I've never heard of them before!

Hi

Thank you for posting this. I remember seeing this LP in the racks when I was about 15, and looking at it and wondering what it would sound like. It's incredible to be able to listen to it 35 years later, thanks to you!

Looking forward to checking it out.

Cheers,

Marc

It´s strange,it´s interesting, but the voices, in the second part of ALL TRACKS, becomes unbearable...
