BOB BELL-NECROPOLIS, LP, 1978, CANADA

This Canadian private press mega-rarity/obscurity from the artistically schizophrenic Bell splits the difference between his love of basement psych splatter/pummel and squalling free jazz ramble, the former occupying side A with a stunning four part suite of wasted guitar scuzz and churning Krautrock-like drama with an akin to both German Oak and Spacebox, the latter covering side B with some rather middling squeak/bonk.

Hi mutantsounds
Your wants list mentions Chuck Van Zyl tapes; all his solo work has been released on two CDs (Celestial Mechanics and The Relic). There is however a huge amount of very interesting stuff that he's done with other folks under different names (Nightcrawlers, Xisle, Ministry of Inside Things, etc). I'm trying to hunt down some of this stuff myself, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Ric

If you have a weirdo tape, please don't mail a link to Mutant Sounds. Mail it to another blog instead. This blog doesn't need any introduction or new attention.

How I love the Mutant Sounds blog. This album by Bob Bell BLEW MY MIND. Side 1 in particular is astonishing - improv rock doesn't get better, or dirtier. Side 2 is quite a trip too, if entirely different. I like it very much. Who WAS this guy? Did he ever do anything else?
I can't find any info anywhere, but he's become an icon to me. MORE!!!

having worked w/ Bob in a Vancouver record store for a few years, I get the sinking suspicion that he prolly posted comments under the name DR STONE POTHEAD. - That's just his sense of humour! - Bob, I can see right through you mutherfucka!

ummm
thanks,

I thought you would want that NOMUSIC cassette. No?

Fred G Sanford-Actually, it was my blog partner Jim who was looking for the Nomusic stuff, and he's in the middle of moving from Greece to Germany, so that would probably account for the lack of response on this issue...

I am a close friend to Bob. He may remember me as frank son of mel lord. I can tell you he is a remarkable musician. We have not spoken since the early 90s. How can I reach him?

He appears to have a bandcamp site:
