DEMENTIA PRECOX-OF PARTS UNKNOWN..., LP, 1985, USA

Drugged, diseased and claustrophobic sounding synth punk insanity that mates early Chrome style acid fried malarky to Girls/Shut Up-like post-Alan Ravenstine atonal synth blurt with detours into a visceral nihilist trudge/grind somewhere between Flipper and The Slugfuckers. Essential brainfood for your next dystopian moodswing.

Hey, I thought I'd stop and let you know how appreciative I am of this blog.

You are a saint, and in the true spirit of this music, you're helping to keep it alive and spread it around and man, that is honorable. That is extremely honorable.

For the greatest music in the world to just vanish into history and the hands of hardcore vinyl collectors that don't spin their slabs, would be almost criminal.

I respect you as much as I respect the bands you post, because you've become as important of a figurehead in music. That sounds heavy, but really, many, many people would never ever hear the pleasures of NWW bands and other gems had it not been for your excellent upkeeping of the site. There is no other medium for hearing this stuff.

You are like the cool old guy at the record store who tips people on all of the best music and knows it all, except you actually share it as well and enlighten us.

I owe much of my musical knowledge to you, sir, and that is one of the greatest gifts to give!

LONG LIVE MUTANT SOUNDS!

You are a CHAMPION! Keep it up, and live a long and happy life, man. You deserve it.

I think they are from Kentucky, maybe Lexington, but I'm not an authority on that.

Fitting description of this combo, which was wholly unknown to me prior to your post.

This is amazing! I can't believe this is from 1985, not only because it's so contemporary sounding in a lot of ways, but also because it's retained so much of the spirit of 1981 post punk. Wow.

Thanks so much!

Yes, I can confirm they were from Dayton, Ohio. We used to sell that album (and a cassette that I really wish I still had) at Rennaissance Music Media on S. Smithville in the late '80s...

I love this blog!

re: the ongoing question of upload servers/services: i have come across a site called http://flameupload.com/ which seems to work as Sharebee except that it keeps the files on - preferred by many- Rapidshare for more than 10 d/loads, and the max filesize is 200 Mb.

Howard...? Are you Joan's son?

Nice to see this album being shared. Good stuff indeed, and I still have my copy on vinyl. ;)

It's interesting you compared them to Flipper. David Paul, who was on the previous album was in Flipper for a while. It's also worth adding that some of these tracks i.e. "Car Pools...", "Hours" were actually recorded back in 1981 during the "Mines" "Dead On 2 Legs Luncheonette" sessions.

dementia precox as of 2012, are currently carrying on the tradition of Gyn Cameron and Roger Revlon with a new incarnation. Mostly the original lineup(roger, Troy, max, etc) of course sans Gyn Cameron, who sadly passed away last year. They amazingly still sound quite fresh and even have some new material.
