THE COLLECTORS-S/T, LP, 1968, CANADA
Gripping and occasionally wrenching Canuck psych moodiness somewhere between Mandrake Memorial and Second Hand's Reality with a bit of Byrds-ian west coast-isms thrown in for good measure. Simultaneously obsessive and dewy eyed and with a real sense of rib sticking pathos about it.

To my vast shame, I hate to admit my complete ignorance of this act. I don't pretend to be an expert on all things canadian, but damn, how come I never heard of this? I tried google but couldn't come up with anything on this, who are these guys, did they end up in other bands, or were they just up for this onetime album? At first I was only curious, but it's my second listen and I've just realized I enjoy this a lot! Thanks for sharing.
Such a nice post, it is really interesting, want to admire your work, Thanks.
If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.
They released two albums before lead singer Howie Vickers split. The remaining members carried on under the name Chilliwack. They didn't really hit it big until the early 80's, with their songs "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)" and "Whatcha Gonna Do (When I'm Gone)." Now you know.
Must admit to not knowing of this band either.....but what ive read about them sounds interesting....thanks for the share...very much appreciated...cheers.
Just stunning! Very interesting post. I'll be spending more time with certain areas. I have no words to appreciate this post ..... I'm really impressed with this post .... the person who created this post was a big thank you man .. for sharing with us.
I saw the Collectors in Seattle shortly after this album was released. They opened for the Steve Miller Band. Well, after the Collectors were done playing, the large audience was stunned. Miller's Band wasn't even an afterthought.
