C. NEWMAN-TRACKWAYS MADE BY TWO DINOSAURS, PROBABLY MEGALOSAURUS, LP, 1983, UK

Fabulously untutored/unfettered in its approach to song form, this first salvo from quintessential British nutter Chris Newman is a stone cold classic of cockeyed art damage, establishing the blueprint for the Ivor Cutler meets Wildman Fischer stance he'd continue to "refine" on his follow up LP alongside his band Janet Smith that I shared a little while back. A giant thank you to blog friend Ansgar for supplying this wonder, as my copy of it is completely trashed!

anonymous-We aren't using any. Neither I not Jim have ever used passwords for a single post on MS. I totally hate the things. And I unfortunately have no answer as to why they'd be showing up for you. It seems that hundreds of others have opened and enjoyed these files with no issues, otherwise there would have obviously been an avalanche of requests. Wish I could help...

Sorry for the anon post earlier - I've got the files out now, but I had to rename the zip as the file name was too long for my computer to deal with!

Noticed Dino Dimuro on the wish-list. Here's a link to it:

Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for the incredible work you do. A Lifetime Achievement Award for service to humanity would be richly deserved!

Hi there,

Just wanted to say that Chris Newman is definitely not untutored. He's a trained composer -- in fact, he was a student of Mauricio Kagel. To my ear, his pieces are quite musically sophisticated -- he just goes out of his way to make them sound completely retarded. Sort of like what Zappa did, perhaps, but even more extreme.

Thank you thank you thank you...I have been looking for this album for 20 years! I was given it on a cassette (since worn out) in the mid 80's and was beginning to think I'd never hear it again. Actually Chris Newman and his group Miss Moth played in Brighton UK last year and I had the pleasure of attending and meeting the man in person! The highlight of my year.

Thanks again for this.
