TOM RECCHION, FREAK SHOW, TAPE, 198?, USA

One of the rarest LAFMS titles (ed. of 50 for the Japanese market, I believe), Recchion's Freak Show operates at a complete remove from the mindwarping detourned Esquivel dada kitsch of his most recognized work. After a long introductory track of reverberant string drones blearing out into infinity, the proceedings suddenly veer into hermetic Bomis Prendin-like jams with a dissolute lost vibe to them that is both disorienting and singular. Somebody please reissue this! Note: this all indexes as one track. So too, only a xerox of the sleeve here, but still...

As a child, I used to collect Star Wars figures, and was fairly obsessed with them. At the time, I used to have dreams that I would be in a store looking for the figures, but instead would find figures from non-existant movies titled "Space Wars" or "Galaxy Empire". I then realized they were much more complex and interesting than anything based on Star Wars.

That's how I've been feeling since I discovered your blog.

Is there someplace I can send gifts?

you say Recchion made 'Esquivel Dada Kitsch'??? - oooh, i go for that one, being an admirer of JG Esquivel as well as most of the Dadasophs...
never heard any of the works from Recchion, though I read about him in David Toop's book 'Haunted Weather'...

so - should i start with this, if i'm an admirer of esquivel dada kitsch... ;)

thx for your marvellous mutant encounters!!!

Lucky-Recchion's most well known work involves looping, effecting and re-combining fragments of Esquivel's music mixed in with various subtle electronic overlays. Check out his Chaotica CD....

I have an LAFMS cassette that is quite rare - Chip Chapman's "Magic Beans" from 1977, in the original handmade "artwork" packaging and numbered 25 (of 25 issued). I would love to record this sucker and post the resulting MP3 file(s) to Rapidhare, but I do not have a cassette player and I'm not sure I'd trust this 30-year old cassette to play without suffering some kind of damage. For what it's worth, I don't think this cassette's ever been played.

dr. - would you consider an obscene offer for that Chip Chapman cassette?

thanks
