DIE TRIP COMPUTER DIE-ABYSS, CDR, ???? (UNRELEASED), U.K.

Way back at the beginning of my work on MS, I posted several privately issued missives from this mindfuckingly wonderful and still extant project of ex-Homosexuals main mover Jim Whelton and his Homosexuals-connected accomplices Lepke Buchwalter (Milk From Cheltenham) and Ted Barrow (Orchestre Murphy/Up Murphy Street etc) that were only intended for the ears of those in their inner circle. WFMU/Wire Magazine's Dave Mandl is either one of these or knows someone who is, as it was via this fine gentleman that these sounds made their way to me long ago. Aah...but it seems that there was one more sense deranging epic from the DTCD camp still loitering in Mr. Mandl's shelves though and now, thanks to him, this last piece of the puzzle is here for your collective perusal and lemme tell ya...it's a beaut. Issued sometime between the late 90's and early 00's (anyone with more specific info, do tell...), Abyss alternately mines a vein of detourned media as sonic miasma and concocts cascades of faux-spooky/campy narcoleptic wooze ala L.A. Free Music Society's Extended Organ and Solid Eye, though their penchant for snarky media manipulation renders the results a bit more caustic on the palate than the doings of the LAFMS.

Victor-Good grief! 'Tis been some time, eh? Good to hear from you. One and all...this is the cat that you can thank for turning me on to all the obscuro Homosexuals-related goodies in the first place, so this post can partly be attributable to Victor's influence. a good fourth coming in the same vein of previous three CDR mysterious releases, always interesting and fascinating space-psyche-cut up music.

I loved the DTCD discs you posted back when and am VERY psyched to hear this. Thanks a million!

They do have one worthy disc available through CD Baby, but I have never been able to find anything else commercially available.

hey eric, hope you don't mind to plug our new record here but as there seem to be so many whelton-fans around, they might wanna know about the latest cd 'perfect vacuum', a guide to the music of the 21th century' on acidsoxx.com . Or do those 'wheltonians' only go for the free download?

Sorry there is not much info out about these recordings. All I can add is most of them are live and were recorded sometime between 1996 and 2006. There must be about 17 unreleased dtcd cds (well not so many now these are available..!)The three 'official' CDs are studio recordings and took years to make. More downloads available at our My Space site. There is a new CD of very old Lepke/Zentos material (pre dtcd) called 'modern shit' available on an Italian lable and a new CD from Lucas Simone & Zentos called 'Perfect Vacuum - A guide to the music of the 21st century'. There is also a new band '2 square why?' recoding at 'Beefy & Figaros' the dtcd studios. I didn't realise there was any interest in this material. The truth is we are useless at self promotion, real crap. Can't build a web site or organise a bone for a cyberdog. Help! More info etc on My Space, or write 'dietripcomputerdie@yahoo.com' or 'tedbarrow@yahoo.com'
Thanks, Ted

ps also coming soon 'the Bruno Ganz Show' on You Tube

Many epsodes of 'the Harmon E Phraisyer Show' available as podcasts from ResonanceFM website. Written by Zentos, featuring dtcd and friends.

Also coming soon 'mistaken identity' short film by Bing Selfish and Zentos featuring music by dtcd & Bing and starring all the above....
