Clara Mondshine-Luna Africana,LP,1981,Germany
Great electronic experimental LP and also one of the most obscure releases of Innovative Communication label. Cosmic ambient stuff ,yet much quirkier than others of this genre (Klaus Schultze ,etc),mixing african ethnic elements with electronics. Really great, that's how early /mid 70s german space/cosmic electronics should have sounded in the early 80s(not that they didn't though).

Thanks for posting this - I've been looking for it for ages! Please note, though, that it has been recorded at 33-1/3, and as noted on the back of the sleeve (and compare the track times!), like many IC LPs it should have been played at 45rpm. It's simple enough to convert it using Audacity, but of course the idea of playing at 45 was to improve audio quality, so really it should be recorded at the intended speed.
Cheers,
Chris Jenkins
1981 you said?? This sounds fresh like a new album and tragic at the same time... An imaginary soundtrack... FANTASTIC.
Thanks a lot!!!!
this is an awesome lp!, thanks so much
I ripped this a while ago so its my fault on the 33rpm, sorry bout that. I liked the sound on 33rpm better than 45, and forgot to re record it before I put it up on usenet.
I'm just stoked to see one of my rips made it on the famous Mutant Sounds!! :D :D I'm posting the FLAC format of this vinyl on usenet if anyone is interested.
This was also posted by Aussie on Fauni Gena (http://faunigena.blogspot.com). Can someone who knows this album tell me if that upload was played at 33 or 45? I'd like to download it only once and not have to try and compare music I don't know.
Thanks.
laser_beak, bring it along!
alt.binaries.sounds.lossless preferred, then.
Thanks in advance
Ah Laser_beak, I loved your old laser_beak music blog! Has it come back or do you have a new one?. I really enjoyed all your posts in the time it was up, excellent music, cheers
Fauni Gena also posted it at 33rpm. There's quite a bit of surface noise too, so I think a new rip of this at the correct speed is definitely called for!
Chris
hey folks. i've been jamming this for months but i have no idea if i'm listening to the 33 or 45rpm rip. the plodding tempos suggest 33 but i'd love to hear a comparison. can anyone point me to a definitive track for comparison? thanks, fam.
this was ripped at the wrong speed of 33rpm and should be 45rpm - see label here: http://gifttapes.com/misc/luna_africana-label.jpg
love this record at 33 1/3, but obviously need to hear it as intended.... anyone know of a 45 DL link?
thanks
Too much dark beauty to be contained in such little time...
Listen at least 4-5 times at 33RPM instead of the "suggested" 45RPM
Only 3 1/2 stars if listened to 45 RPM
Definitely 5 stars if listened to 33 RPM

Some of it sounds better (more atmospheric) at 33 while some is better at 45. Really odd, and I think many mistakenly played at 33 when it came out on LP, me included! I much prefer Memorymetropolis in any case.
Maybe it was recorded at 33 and sped up to 45 before the print, sine pieces are so fast! Eg. Amazonenharfe
