Zenith Effluveum- Almost Made It In The Usa ,LP,1978,USA

Strange "psych" LP from these psyched out teens from Rochester.Rumours that Greg Prevost (of Chesterfield Kings fame) contributed. Long acid guitar ,synth jams a voice that brings in mind MX 80 Sound or Debris. A vast of musical instruments is used: synths, guitar, clarinet in a lo fi production(?!) .And talking of production,it really seems to be none! These guys got in the studio and recorded whatever came in their acid damaged minds this day.And it's teriffic!
get it here

***NOTE: THERE'S A MIRRORED MEDIAFIRE LINK IN THE COMMENT FIELD***

Just curious you mentioned they are from Rochester. Is that New York or Minnesota? Thanks for the killer posts.

Downloaded this a while ago, just got around to actually listening to though. AWESOME!! Love the lyrics on the last track "Opie is smoking his first joint! Opie is listing to GREAT MUSIC" followed by a sympathy-for-the-devil rip off fade out!!! So great!

Hey World. Carl Mack here, drummer for this one of a kind album "Almost Made it In the USA" recording in my parents basement in our senior year of high school in Rochester New York. We were listening to Can, Amon Duul, Faust, Floh de Cologne, Magma, Silver Apples, Henry Cow, and much more. This is a wonderful album that we put our hearts into. Most songs were written by Michael Ferrera, who died a few years ago. re: Greg from Chesterfield Kings recorded in my basement at the same time as Mr. Electro and the Void, but he does not appear on this record. We were all working at the House of Guitars in Rochester together in the years after high school. thanks for publishing the record. I have a couple hundred left, if any one wants one!!!
