DIE ACHSE-THE PROSPECT OF WHITBY, TAPE, 1983, GERMANY




Somewhat insubstantial opening salvo aside, some truly choice Neue Deutsche Welle minimal synth nuggets are tucked away in the recesses of this forgotten treasure. Emotive early Human League-like synthy melancholia offset by the expected cheap rhythm box doinkbeats and an overall enveloping muff of fuzziness are the template Die Achse utilize for their breed of arty stripped synthpop, all of it very indicative of the abiding influence of the Sky Records aesthetic on young post punk Germany.
