BAYON-S/T, LP, 1978, GERMANY (DDR)
East Germany's Bayon trafficed in lush, languid and classically inflected folk/prog/world moves and it's a terrain thats precipitously poised between the guileless lovely and the borderline unctuous, though they manage to skirt sticky sweetness more often than not and what does work here, really works a charm; sweeping aside your ironic defenses with intoxicating cascades of sawing strings, aerated flutes and hand drums, especially as the album progresses and the plot thickens. Now and then, rock-ist moves briefly surface within this lubricious cocoon but they almost seem besides the point. Bayon make basking in the borderline overripe and capital "P" pretty seem like a perfectly reasonable end in itself.

Thanks so much for this kraut gem.
Greetings Alan!!!
Tracks 1-5 of the Bayon are missing. Just wanted you to know. Thanks for your hard work here as always...
Jeff...Actually, all the tracks are there. They were transferred from a CDR that a friend made for me. Bayon was the second of two LP's on said CDR (hence, tracks number 6-14)and I somehow managed to not remove the numbers from in front of the titles. Silly me...
Ooops, sorry about that. Thanks for the correction. :O)
thanks for great shares, for your time and effort, but thanks most for loving the music.
Thanks a lot for sharing this music! Wish there were more like you on earth.. Do you happen to know anything about the song "Stell dich mitten in den Regen" featured in "Das Leben der Anderen" where it's credited to Bayon? Do you know which cd/LP it's on?
Thanks for Bayon. Strange vocals. Great instrumentation!
Cheers
