LAUGHING HANDS-NIGHTS, TAPE, 1982, AUSTRALIA

Though Australian electronic producer Paul Schutze has received most of his media attention for the dark ambient/rhythmic/quasi-isolationist music he's authored under his own name, his early 80's work in Laughing Hands has gotten little or no press. A pity, as the esoteric Eno-by-way-of-Dome post punk instrumental constructs they doled out across their two LP's (posted long ago by Jim) are some of the most mesmerizing examples of this sort extant. Their work on this tape-only release finds them exploring a decidedly more shrouded, nocturnal and formally abstract dimension of their universe. Comprised of two side-long pieces, Side A's mesmerizing title track is filled with watery glisses, spectral synth shadings, distant metallic clatter and pained wails, while the B-side's Infinite Summer unfurls a protracted stream of stutter pulse across a vast terrain of preternatural and phantasmagoric incident.

Finally got around to listening to this... and I think it might be my favorite of all the Laughing Hands stuff! It's a nice companion to the Randy Greif "Bacteria and Gravity" LP. Creepy abstract cinematic soundscapes.

Any chance to re-up this lost masterpiece?
Thank you in advance.
