V/A:The Snoopies Album, LP , UK 1981

'Snoopies' was an alternative music venue in Richmond (London) that closed its doors in 1981. As a 'celebration' of the venue, the promoter there gave the wonderfully named 'Ralph.E.Boy' unrestricted access to the demo tapes of bands that had played there. Ralph picked 15 of the best tracks for a compilation album, and privately pressed 1000 copies on to vinyl. Bands included on the compliation include 'The Cardiacs', 'The Scissor Fits' & 'The Tronics','Europeans','Plain Characters'.Amazing DIY compilation!

One of the stand-out tracks on this LP is "I Am A" by the Plain Characters which is different and better than their single version.

Unfortunately it has not ripped as well as the others, maybe there was fluff on the needle. Any chance of doing just that track again?

Also, I'd love to hear their "Man In The Railings" single if you come across it.

There is a compilation LP called "Beyond The River" from the Reading (UK) area and it has a few brilliant artists on it (The Ballistics, The Stills, Dig Dig Dig).

Any chance of magicing that up?

Hi Snoopies fans I am the one and only Ralph E. Boy who put this album together when I was 19. Great to see it has a little presence on the web and people still like it. I am still in touch with some of the bands, Tronics, MLR, The Trudy, Scissor Fits. Great day from the best period in British music ever.

All hail to thee, Lord Puffin!

My vinyl copy of this has been 'storaged' out of existence & I remember it sounding knackered anyway. I was pestering The Trudy about the how & wheres recently . . .& now this has made my day.
