BRUME-SIGNATURE MODEL, CDR, 1998, FRANCE

The first of several titles that I'll be posting in the coming days by Brume, the moniker for the musical activities of the superb French experimental electronic composer Christian Renou, who's long fused the worlds of post-industrial sonics with the techniques of electroacoustic praxis, blurring the boundaries in a way similar to fellow Frenchman Philippe Blanchard of Lieutenant Caramel, who's work shares some similarities with Renou's. The title at hand is one of his rarer releases - a 100 copy CDR that in trademark style, plays fast and loose with techniques from across the electronic spectrum, weaving drones, noise, electroacoustic and concrete techniques and gritty post-industrial textural explorations into a fascinating and unpredictable slurry.
