Long a cornerstone Neue Deutsche Welle collectable, this seminal slab of wax largely documents the more strident and vingery end of the NDW continuum. Aside from containing essential early P16.D4 material (still in rock fragmentation mode at this early stage), this also features vital contributions from Christoph Anders' pre-Cassiber unit Toto Lotto and the exceedingly bleak and crabby No Aid, both of whom have had releases posted on MS. Elsewhere, Jean Gilbert contributes the dourest slog through disjointed teutonic sturm und drang on the album and Frohliche Eiszeit do precisely the opposite, offering a sublime trifecta of giddy drum machine-led post punk bleep and blurt abetted by unexpectedly lovely sax that launch the proceedings in high style.
