MAGIC-MARIONETTE KARMA, TAPE, 1981, JAPAN

This Japanese mystery outfit's brainwarping and dystopian M.O. takes in dazed, smeary and acid queased weirdness in the mode of French electronic rockers Spacecraft and Ilitch, post-industrial stormclouds of stochastic grit and metallic percussion and insularly deformed avant rock jams that'd do NWW-listers Bomis Prendin proud.

ricardo-we're written about in the current Ritchie Hawtin issue? I haven't had a chance to score an issue yet. There's supposed to be a forthcoming Simon Reynolds article that includes us and that is due to appear in their pages, but that's not what's in this issue, is it?

Insane album! Much thanks for posting it.

The article is in Wire #297 Nov 2008.
Congrats on the recognition and continued great work. Hope the publicity does queer your pitch.

Er, that should have been 'Hope the publicity "does not" queer your pitch', obviously...
Leaves his first comment in ages and manages to completely reverse his meaning, ah well c'est la vie...

Does anyone know where I can find Utakata no Hibi by Mariah? I found one great song from them, but I can't seem to find anything else. If anyone could help me find this album or anything else from Mariah I would greatly appreciate it. If you can help, please email me at discotrash1@gmail.com

if this is remotely like the mask of the imperial family stuff, you've absolutely made my day!

Hi Eric,

New Pascal Comelade CD (the title is "The No Dancing") here:

If you can upload the Creeping Dawn Vol. 3 soon, I would appreciate it so, so much. Been eagerly awaiting that post.

Thanks for all you and Jim do!

well, some of it bears a passing resemblance to mask of the imperial family...

but otherwise its a completely different beast...

first track sounds like gary wilson meets komintern!

any other releases from this group, 'Magic'?

ganietzsche-If there are any other titles available by them, it's news to me. Pretty much anything about them is news to me though, hence my description of them as being a mystery group.

Stunning. The way that they meld such a range of styles into a chaotic, yet cohesive whole. One of the most inspiring albums that I've heard in a long time.

Some, please re-release it on CD.

please post the Wire article so we don't have to purchase that otherwise useless rag

Tis piece of utter weirdness is mutant sounds at its best- rescuing totally ungraspable oddities from the far-too deep hole of 80's cassette releases. Thanks!!!
