ROBERT RENTAL : Mental Detentions ,Tape, 1979,UK

Scottish miniml synth/electronics experimenter who came to prominence in the late seventies with home made release, Paralysis, produced by friend and collaborator, Thomas Leer. Released only two solo singles which for fans of the period are well worth hunting down. Rental's major output, though, was in collaborative work, recording with both Leer and Mute supremo, Daniel Miller.
ROBERT RENTAL : Mental Detentions MC (1979)
a series of demos recorded at home --inc. T. LEER on a couple of trax

Really great that this stuff is finally out there. That a man with such little output inspires such fervour speaks for itself. He's up there with other tragically under-recorded industrialists like Ne/H/iL (only 3 tracks, recorded as SoliPsiK, exist!). Maybe more Rab Rental home recordings may emerge one day. Thanks for this!

Thanks SO MUCH for posting this - I've been hoping to hear more "Rab" Rental for YEARS (I have all of his vinyl but it simply ain't enough - need moremoreMORE!). I love R.R.'s stuff &, even after all this time, "Mental Detentions" is no disappointment - I've a feeling Mute'll be issuing it officially sometime very soon, hopefully with further unobtainable gems...(?)

Once again, THANKS! x

I had a copy of this tape given to me at a Cabaret Voltaire gig back in 1979 - I'm sure it had an extra track on it though. Love the James Burke stuff on it.

Thnaks for the fantastic rarities. Do you know by chance a place where could I get Robert Rental first single ? No chance on ebay or anywhere else... the Mute stuffs are easy to find, thanks to the recent release but what about Paralysis/ACC ?

Does anyone have a copy of this still? Would love to get a copy but download seems not to work.
