GEEKS-IT'S NOT ABOUT NOTES ANYMORE, LP, 1979, USA




Existing from 1965 to 1981 (though I suspect it wasn't always under this moniker) Geeks were a bay area pack of old free jazzbos that got thunderstruck by punk rock's visceral thrust and freaked out accordingly on this whacked out obscurity. Pretty damaged and "out" sounding stuff...

From 1962 - 1969 they were known as the Great Lakes Flotilla. Sometime in 69/70 they changed their name to the Geeks, as in circus geek.

only 1 comment so far?! ok: that ART ZOYD is like orange-yellow lysergic, and that first AUS LAUTER LIEBE is great konkrete/klang, the second one being to..."conventional" (in the Mutant-Sound world at least), but that LES BANANAS! NOW WE'RE TALKIN'!!! i learned some new dance steps! thanks.

Wow, another great find. Love this one's place in San Francisco's musical history. Kinda like Flipper with chops.
