Before Grateful Dead emulation would ultimately lead them toward flakier pastures, these Japanese psych mavens were kicking up dense morasses of of coruscating freakout motion which, during this early era were laden with the stunning acid guitar flailings of White Heaven's Michio Kurihara. Amon Duul usually gets namechecked when this era of Marble Sheep is discussed, which is superficially accurate given the percussive density involved here, but completely misses the mark in terms of vibe, which is here aiming for a sort of howling heart of darkness that the bongo beaters of the original Amon Duul tribe never sought.
