Alvaro - Drinkin My Own Sperm,LP,1977, Chile (NWW list!)

Since "The Orange Cornflake Zoo" blog(that posted it for forst time about a year ago) is closed, I thing it's fair to post it to my blog to give people the chance to get across this very rare and extremely outrageous experimental gem!
This is his highness Alvaro Peña-Rojas' first 1977 solo record, after his 1965-67 rock'n'roll days with Los Challengers and Los Bumerangs back home in Valparaiso, Chile and his early seventies experiment with the not so pub rockin' The 101ers (Clive Timperley, a certain Woody Mellor, the briefly Public Image Ltd. and The Raincoats Richard Dudanski, Pat Nother, Simon Cassell) in London. This man (writing, putting out records and touring to this day) plays in a league of his own. He is THE great phantom figure of Chilean (South America) rock, standing tall in the shadows behind more than a generation (maybe preceded by Nicanor Parra and Alejandro Jodorowsky) of highly personal, acid-humored individuals (Florcita Motuda, Carlos Cabezas, Mauricio Redolés, Jorge Gonzales). Did I mention his claims to have invented punk?. This record put out by the man's own Squeaky Shoes imprint, impossible to get by on vinyl, is a collection of 7 rather lengthy incursions into a lo-fi Latin Andean folk fragment-rock-avant garde implosion-dorky ingenuity-cheery party tune-foggy introspection vortex remarkable for it's sheer audacity. For seekers of the unusual and overlooked, this could be considered at the verge of outsider music. Apart from Alvaro's lyrics, singing and enfant terrible piano chops, Antonio Narvaez and Cathy Williams back up on a bombo julero, stones, laughs, rrrrrrrs, piano, assorted percussion, pinquillo, double flute, bass and whistle. The drinkin' sperm thing is about a Buddhist masturbatory technique involving lifting your legs up the wall while laying on the ground. Right on!

Man, the Alvaro record!?! I thought I'd *never* get a chance to hear that! Thanks for the post. Next requests (at the risk of sounding greedy): Pekka Airkensen, Michel Magne - Moshe Mouse, Red Noise. Or else just more of these great discs I haven't heard of.

Fantastic stuff, lots of fun and memories.

Do you have "Mum's Milk Not Powder" by Alvaro? It's also very good, possibly better.
