OLAF SCHIRM-SYMBOTER MUSIC, TAPE, 1981, GERMANY
Spare but solid Neue Deutsche Welle minimal electronic moves from this forgotten synth pop operative that starts out a mite bare boned and insubstantial but gradually evolves into a winning display of vocoded synthetic plink ponk, especially when it's aesthetic remit unexpectedly expands to encompass inflections of cod-kosmiche trippiness that come off like some Teutonic spin on Aussie Ian Macfarlane's exploits in cosmic camp.

This is crazy: I lived in Munich in 1981, a few kilometres from this guy. And only today I get to know this music by you. It is really beautiful music and I want to thank you -- and Olaf Schirm!

Now I found the mistake ... track 4 & 5 are not spereate ones - they are one song together!!So there are only 12 tracks (the 'Auszug aus einem solo-live-konzert' is just an additional info) ...
Hi all, thank you for your pleasurable comments, my name is Olaf Schirm and I am actually
Symboter.
After a long time I have started to dig out the old music tapes of mine and transferred them to my blog site. There you can download quite a few of the original songs as mp3 files and read some background information about them. I am collecting more information and image scans of my studios and will add them from time to time, also I will add more recent "music" as soon as I know where my newer direction goes. I am interested mostly in interactive realtime music, sensor or gesture controlled.
My current instruments are a Korg Karma V2, a Yamaha Tenori-On, Reason V4, Reaktor V5. Also I work with puredata (PD) and Audiomulch. From time to Time I use sensors for motion, pressure und bend, temperature and light as well as a DataGlove to alter music events.
If you like to know more, visit my site at www.symboter.de and use the kontact form to get in touch with me, thanks to mutant-sounds for the great collection of information, Symboter
