KLANGSTABIL-GIOCO BAMBINO, CD, 1999, GERMANY/ITALY

Part of a raft of releases that came out within a few years of one another, all utilizing the sounds of Nintendo's gamboy (sort of a precursor to whats happening now with the umpteen variants on the sound of the Buddha box) , though actually, this half German, half Italian group (an otherwise more specifically post-industrially geared outfit) had their go with this stuff a few years before Stock, Hausen & Walkman's Matt Wand and Poland's Gameboyzz Orchestra entered the fray. For someone like me that adores the idiotically blippy and childish tonalities of, say, Picky Picnic, mutated reconfigurations of candy coated bleep-bloop like this are aimed right at my pleasure receptors, though in the case of Klangstabil, they do about as much as one could to recontextualize the goof right out of these sounds (in a sort of Tietchen-y fashion), something that lends a curious frisson of it's own to the proceedings here. This lengthy CD has been divided into two parts.
