V/A-TO STEP OUTSIDE AND KEEP WALKING, CD, 1994, CANADA

A superb compilation featuring lengthy works from four notable experimental audio artists/groups. Including contributions from Contact With A Curve and Art Simon, pride of place here goes to Randy Grief's trance inducing 18+ minute No Ordinary Storm, which opens the proceedings in truly lovely fashion, coming as it does from the more liminal, glazed end of his aesthetic, and taking his usual inversions of Jon Hassell's fouth world-isms to more eerily crepuscular ends and Canadian electroacoustic and computer music composer Jocelyn Robert, whose beautifully enveloping 18 minute Hinterland suite closes this album in a lovingly crafted sequence of musical non sequiters. Note: this lengthy CD has been divided into two parts.
