ART ZOYD 3-SYMPHONIE POUR LE JOUR OU BRULERONT LES CITES, LP, 1976, FRANCE

Now that the confusion surrounding my prior posting of this album (which I removed) has been cleared up (the version previously posted by Jim in February is the 1980 re-recording of this album, but was posted with the cover for the original pressing), I am re-posting the original recording. Here's my text from the first posting:

NOT the later commonly available 1980 re-recording of this staggering album from these R.I.O. masters, rather, this is the extremely rare 1976 original pressing with a substantially different line-up and vibe. More stark, skeletal and feverish, it's on this record in particular where Art Zoyd's zeuhl affinities really come to the fore, complete with Vander-esque vocal histrionics and the martial cadence of mid-period Magma when they're not traversing pastures they'd rapidly abandon after this album, including some startling forays into gypsy jazz. The re-recording would thicken the stew with sax, electric piano and more strings, but it's experiential effect is rather different and somewhat more opaque. Regardless, for fans of this group, this is a real holy grail can't-miss item, so...you've been duly notified....

THIS HAS NOW BEEN REISSUED ON BELLE ANTIQUE AND CAN BE FOUND Here
