Kim Jung Mi-Now + Wind,LPs,1973,Korea

Korean psychedelic rock from the 70’s. And sung by the “Korean Francoise Hardy.” The backing band is led by Korean fuzz guitar pioneer Shin Jung Hyun.Although not in English, the record has a very similar feel to some of the hippest British female work of the same period -- a style that takes older folk styles and gives them a trippier, more psychedelic twist -- largely through the use of echoey production that makes the voice sound all flanged-out next to the guitar, but also through some spacious arrangements that give most of the record a nicely floating sort of feel! Both LPs were unofficialy reissued as cds by Korean World Psychedelia label.

Glad to see that you're back Jim. Vdosound and Spacefreak have been doing a great job of keeping things going while you were gone. I first heard this at Cities on Flame with Rock And Roll, and was absolutely blown away.

I have a blog that focuses on a lot of free-form/avant garde music. Recently I have featured the amazing Sir Richard Bishop from Sun City Girls along with a compilation of all female musicians for the Future Queens Vol.11 compilation. If you are familair with Lucky from Border Music and arboribus from Prostrate Before a Periwinkle, you wil be familair with this Future Queens series.

Please take a look at my blog Ecelctic Grooves at http://ecelctic-grooves.blogspot.com and add me to your links if you like what you see.

Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,

I think you mean:

http://www.eclectic-grooves.blogspot.com/

There was a typo in your URL and I received a "404" error.

Just an FYI so more folks can get to your site.

Cheers,

Jeff

Thanks for letting me know Jeff. I have been added to the links on the sidebar here, so I guess it doesn't really matter. Thanks to mutantsounds, vdosaound and spacefreak for adding me to the links.

Regards, Kevin

I about lost my mind when I noticed this post. For the past two months I have been searching and searching for these albums (especially Now). Thank You!

You run a great show here. Can't thank you enough for all the amazing sounds you've opened my ears to!

If anyone out there knows where to find more Korean stuff please post! Cities on Flame had some wonderful stuff posted, but of course its down now. If anyone is interested in his old posts I'd be happy to post what I managed to get.

Thank You! I have been searching for these albums for months (especially Now). I can't thank you enough for all the amazing music you have opened my ears to! It's truly fortunate this blog exists.

If anyone knows where to get any more of these old Korean records please post! Cities on Flame had an amazing collection of Asian music on his blog but sadly, since his passing, the old links are down. I managed to grab some stuff before it went down (I'd be happy to post it again, if anyone is looking).

Thanks a bunch!

thanks! unfortunately the rip of wind is totally fucked up! sounds like it's been treated with a too "tight" noise reduction.. too bad.

yes it would be great to re-rip Wind
thanks in advance

It's not the rip, it's the World Psychedelia CD of Wind that sounds like poop. I know, I bought it!

Heard 'The Sun' on WFMU today and was absolutely entranced by it. Could have been recorded two weeks ago, it sounds so fresh and timeless.

Thank you for allowing me to hear more of Kim Jung Mi.
