MANUEL GOTTSCHING/ASH RA TEMPEL/ASHRA-THE PRIVATE TAPES VOL. 1-6, 6xCD SET, 1996 (RECORDED: 1970-1979), GERMANY

I expect many will be jazzed to see this classic krautrock compendium finally made available again, after it's disappearance elsewhere in the music share blogosphere a while back. At this late date, It'd be hard to find anything particularly novel to add to the mountain of verbiage already expended on the marvels of Gottsching and Ash Ra Tempel. Suffice it to say that anyone
into the whole mythos really shouldn't be without this essential piece of the puzzle a moment longer, containing as it does some three solid hours of otherwise unavailable live Ash Ra Tempel material alone. Beyond that salient fact though lies one other detail, namely that the 20 odd minute Gottsching's solo track "Lotus" on disc 5 is for me easily one of the loftiest peaks in his entire recorded canon.

NOTE: THERE WAS INITIALLY A MISTAKE MADE WITH THE LINK FOR VOL. 4 PART 1 OF THIS POST. THIS HAS NOW BEEN CORRECTED.

Thank you very much for this posting. This wonderful set is OOP and extremely hard to find.

One comment. The link for Vol 4 – pt 1 points to a Non Ash Ra file named: ackedOutSinglesVol.4section1.zip. This file does not contain Privite tapes Vol 4.

Once again, thank you.

Thanks for making this gem of music available to those or should I say many of us who love Ashras music. Be it musician or listener this is an essential to anyone who yearns for more than banal music. Ashra was and still is a milestone of krautrock!

Actually I already have the album, so I don't need to DL, but I couldn't help write a few things...
Indeed, thank you very much for making this rare gem available to all kraut / ashra fans... as already mentinoed, "anyone
into the whole mythos really shouldn't be without this essential piece of the puzzle a moment longer"...

now my request: among the "legal" material by Tempel & Mr. Göttsching (in the '70's), the only missing piece is Ash Ra Tempel's (original lineup) "Der Vierte Kuss", which was released in the 5 CD sampler set "Supernatural Fairy Tales, The Progressive Rock Era". Any chance that you have this, and post here? (for me only that track is enough, and the entire set is also OK ;) ) Maybe also "Gedanken" from Seven Up era, which was included in "The Best of Private Tapes" sampler as a bonus track; I have the latter track in 128 kbps, I can upload if needed...

Thanks in advance!

This is terrific stuff, thanks so much for the d/ls. I never knew this existed. Do you have any good quality rips of Achim Reichel and Machines - Echo and Die Grune Reise?

A Million Thanks for this! I have been looking for these recordings for many years. I have heard only Vol.6 and was blown away. I am sure the rest is as good if not better. Gottsching is a true master of cosmic musics and he is coming to the USA soon for his first visit.

I've just had word that as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations for Japan's Metamorphose Festival Manuel Gottsching will be playing his classic album Inventions for Electric Guitar live at Mount Fuji on September 3rd-4th 2010.

Thanx and Grüsse aus Berlin.
