PGR - Silence,LP,1985,USA

PGR started life as an industrial group in mid '80s under the Poison Gas Research moniker. After self publishing several cassettes under this name, the group name was shortened to PGR. Their first LP was Silence, which inspired the name of PGR mainstay Kim Cascone's label (and later distribution company) Silent. On this label a series of LPs and CDs was released, among them 'The Black Field' and 'The Chemical Bride'. In addition to these, a double CD was released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of LSD titled '50 Years Of Sunshine' (a collection with Genesis P-Orridge, Hawkwind and Timothy Leary). Over the years, the music of PGR navigates through industrial, psychedelic, ambient and musique concrète.In this first LP we have more collage work and an ambient piece with metal percussion and flutes.

One of the greatest groups from that time. Wish they had been more prolific. That said, how about posting some of their cassettes?

Also, can you post Nik Pascal - Magnetic Web? Or if someone else has, can you point it out for me?

Cheers again for all your work!

Thank you for uploading this PGR release "Silence" to your blogspot. Currently, I am searching for as many PGR / Kim Cascone releases as possible (for free downloading of course). Thank you for this hard to find release and others.

Take care,

P.S. Hopefully the guy above me (May 4, 2007 2:59 PM) was able to get the hang of downloading mp3's via blogspots such as this one. Shame that he seemed so pissed off. ;-)
