ARTURO STALTERI-ANDRE SULLA LUNA, LP, 1979, ITALY

The mastermind behind the sublime Italian cosmic rock group Pierrot Lunaire (whose album Gudrun Jim posted way back in February), Arturo Stalteri's work both within Pierrot Lunaire and here on his solo debut occupies a perch in that rarified strata of Italian kosmiche godhead that also includes Franco Battiato, Franco Leprino, St. Tropez, Luciano Cilio and a mere handful of others. Absent the contributions that Gaio Chiocchio or vocalist Jacqueline Darby brought to bear in Pierrot Lunaire, keyboardist Stalteri's penchant for the systemic is much more consistent and overt here, liquifying Glass-ian percolations into acid hazed panoramas that serve as beds for gently insistent piano cycles, interventions of sustain acid guitar burn and occasional bursts of rock drums and acoustic guitar ripple (not to mention what sounds like one very pissed off dwarf) . This top tier Italian monster is just begging for the embrace of psychonauts worldwide and is posted here in it's CD reissue version from the late 90's, which included five bonus tracks.

I can't wait to hear this one!!! If anyone hasn't checked out Gudrun yet, get it now! I have spent countless hours this year lost in that album. Anyone know where I can nab their S/T album?

C'mon post this! My brother was in this band. This album has never been released or even blogged. An exclusive for MS!
A head-on collision between Capt. Beefheart & King Crimson. We call this music 'clatch'

There are some problems with the MassMirror links from this page right now. Not sure if it's the site (I can get the Mass Mirror main site) or the links, but they don't seem to open on any browser.

If it's an LP, why did you post a picture of the CD?

anonymous-Originally released as an LP, I stated at the bottom of the description that I'd pulled the material from the CD reissue as it contained bonus cuts.

Thanks for this Artuto Stalteri album, really gorgeous! I didn't know this existed - I have his 'Early Rings' cd which is great.
Jeronimo - I share your love for Gudrun, a classic album. The debut isn't as experimental but still pretty good.
