BARRY DALIVE-HOMELY ALL AMERICAN SONGS AND STORIES FOR MUTANT SPACE DWEEBS FROM PLANET HELL, LP, 1990, USA

Completely damaged sounding Sylvie and Babs/Kangaroo Kourt/People Like Us/Mixed Band Philanthropist-like dada collage insanity that is easily the peak moment in RRR's vast catalog of releases for moi. Lots of folks try their hand at this sorta thing, but few pull it off with this much sick panache.

The jokey nature of the selected tape material, the predominance of the "f word" and the short, silly songs woven into the mix recall John Trubee as perhaps the most spot-on reference point for this. There's a very American sensibility to the proceedings that cannot be ignored...definitely interesting, but a bit more "doo-doo" than "dada."

Barry [Dalive] Ward is/was indeed a Trubee fan, his resume' includes stints as a touring guitarist in Gwar and Me First and The Gimme Gimmes plus a decade+ run with Rich Kids on L.S.D (RKL). More recently he was in the trucker punk band The Crosstops. A couple years ago The Crosstops played with Trubee at the Eagle in San Francisco.

I have this 500 copy or so rarity on vinyl but am happy to suck this up as a digital slurpee!

I used to use it as a way to clear out the club at last call ...

I could use a little bit less of the silly songs portion of this, but the collage sections are killer, and the prank calls are fun- they remind me of Savage Vigilance, which is one of the few times when "antihumor" is done right.
